Monday 18 March, 2013…Time for some more play!

We loved White Sands National Park so much we decided to head back for a little more exploration and a bit of fun photography, this time with a kayak! I thought to myself, we were sledding on snow disks the other day,  wouldn’t it be fun to surf the dunes in a kayak! In reality I didn’t really want to subject our kayaks to that kind of abuse, sand is what sand paper is made of right? However, we decided it would still make a great photo opportunity with the colourful kayak against the backdrop of white sand.

On the way back the winds were really picking up, gusting at times to over 40 mph. At camp we couldn’t sit outside as there was so much dust and sand flying everywhere. We actually weren’t ready to leave Las Cruces since we were enjoying it so much, but the winds were forecast to continue for the next few days which was going to make doing any outdoor activities difficult, so we made the decision to hit the road and carry on toward Carlsbad.
