18 May, 2013…A quick visit to Lake Tahoe

We headed out of Lehman Creek Campground on our way to Lake Tahoe this morning. We don’t plan to spend much time here, just going to drive around the lake and see what all is there since neither of us has been here before.

We carried on down Route 50 passing through Carson City, NV. Route 50 touches the east side of Lake Tahoe just about at it’s center. We turned right heading up around the north end of the lake. We arrived on a beautiful sunny and calm day…the lake is stunning with snow capped mountains in the background. We stopped in Tahoe Vista for a light lunch then headed on around the lake checking a few things along the way,

We stopped at the Watson Cabin Museum, which is not only a beautiful little cabin in a spectacular setting, it is also  the oldest building in all of Tahoe, having been built in 1909.

After the museum we headed down to Eagle Falls  which is above Emerald Bay on the southwest end of Lake Tahoe. It is a pretty specular waterfall and not far from the parking area. There are spectacular views out over Emerald Bay.

After a bit of time at Eagle Falls we made our way back to the Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park to camp for the night. It is a very pleasant campground nestled in a pine forest. We spent the evening sitting around the Camp-Fire-in-a-Can enjoying some wine!
