Camping at Meziadin Lake Provincial Park
One of the really spectacular lakes in mid-northern BC is Meziadin Lake. It’s approximately 633kms north of Prince George, BC and about 600kms south of Watson Lake, YT.
This beautiful provincial park is very popular with the fishing crowd, but its a very large lake and people in their boats tend to disperse quite nicely.
Camping Information
Presently, rates here are $22/night and $5 extra for electrical hook up – there is no water or sewer AND no dump station! There are pit toilets, water was available from taps and there is wi-fi available for a fee. For and up to date fee schedule click this link: BC Park Fees
They also have a travel trailer for rent on-site and a small convenience store that also sells fishing licenses. You can also arrange for tours of the lake, nearby glaciers and the towns of Stewart, BC & Hyder, AK.
The park has 66 campsites – 25 of which are reservable. Sites are nicely spaced and clean … a lot of them are waterfront. Because it is such a popular spot tho it can get very crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. Operating dates are May 15 to Sept 30.
I’ve camped here on several occasions and it can be hit or miss. This last time (May long weekend) was super crowded, LOTS of smoldering campfires going, music playing … just a bit too ‘civilized’ for my liking. But once you get on the water – it’s an amazing place to be!
A Spectacular Day Trip
If you decide to camp at Meziadin Lake, take a day trip to the Bear Glacier or visit the mining towns of Stewart, B.C. and Hyder, Alaska and on to the Salmon Glacier. For more on this great side trip: Click this link: Meziadin Lake to Stewart & Hyder
