We were looking forward to a trip through BC and Yukon again this year but have been sidetracked by a new and unexpected ‘adventure’ … I have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and will be undergoing mastectomy, chemo and radiation in the coming months.
I’m still in the ‘it can’t be real’ phase and expect to wake up and find out it was all a dream. Hasn’t happened yet so I’m thinking it just might be real.
I don’t know what the future will hold but certainly no RV’ing this year at the very least.
Once again everyone … get out and travel while you can! You just don’t know what the future will bring and ‘someday’ may never come. Enjoy life … family and friends … good food (and good wine) (better yet … good Scotch! Don’t settle for the cheap stuff!) … sunsets … sunrises … and your significant other.
Bruce will be faced with looking after me as I navigate these new waters … I hope I’m worth it!
I’ll try and keep you posted as I’m able.
Good traveling!

You are definitely worth it! I was there when he married you. I don’t remember any part that said ” I ‘ll cut and run when things get messy or difficult!” He loves you darlin’ ; he’ll be @ your side thru thick ‘n’ thin. Not just because it’s the right thing to do, or because he’s seen examples in his own life, but because he is the man of your life. We all love you & we will do whatever we can to make this whole journey as easy as possible . You gotta get” back on the road again “( by Willie Nelson), as you have lots of miles left in you. Focus on getting back out into nature, taking amazing photos and having fun with your sweetie! You are a strong , powerful & mighty woman ; no measly cancer is going to get the best of you! You have the strength, power & tenacity of a freight train @full speed. We all are here for you. Much love , your friends, L & A.
Thanks to you both! It’ll be a rough ride but I’ll hang on the best I can! Love you back! linda
Hi…Just came across your blog as we are planning our 2018 Alaska/Yukon Territory adventure. It sounds like you have had some awesome adventures! Can’t wait to check out some of the places you have described, especially the spruce tip beer in Haines! We spent 3 weeks last summer going through Alaska (Hatcher Pass, Talkeetna, Denali SP and NP, Wrangell-St. Elias and Kenai Fjords/Seward). Best of luck to you this year in your fight against cancer! Hopefully our paths will cross in future years as we are avid travellers….well, 3 weeks every summer with our Honda Oddy loaded with our tent camping gear….at least until the kids are in college and hubby retires! Lisa
Hi Lisa … oh how I wish I were going to Alaska & The Yukon this summer! Sounds like you’ve had some great adventures as well! The spruce tip beer is awesome … wish we could get it at home … but I guess that’s the great thing about traveling … finding stuff you DON’T find at home!
Thanks for your kind words … every good thought counts!
Cheers! And have FUN!
