Pioneer RV Park is located just a few kilometers from and an easy drive into Whitehorse, YT.
It’s right on the highway so it’s easy to find and get into.
It doesn’t look like much at first glance … but it’s got everything! Gas, propane, mechanic, car/rv wash, tours, small gift shop AND awesome wi-fi! It does (theoretically) have a laundromat although it was broken when we were there!
Showers and washrooms are available – not sure what they’re like as we didn’t use them – but if they’re anything like the rest of the park … it’s pretty clean!
Rates are good … we paid $33/night for a full hook-up with our Good Sam membership. (This really does pay off … parks are SO expensive anymore we appreciate all the help we can get!) With this you get 300mg of internet per night – and you can buy 1 gig extra for $4!! Yes … $4!!
Don’t be deceived … at first glance the park is just a gravel parking lot with a long row of pull-through sites. Up above the office is a quite large, treed area with lots more to choose from.
We opted for the ‘parking lot’ spot as we wanted to be as close to the office/wi-fi as possible and really wanted a pull-through … as well … we’re actually not fond of camping under heavy trees. Even tho there wasn’t much of a place to sit outside in our site – it did have a picnic table. We were mostly gone so the lack of sitting out space didn’t bother us too much.
There was a bit of road noise as the park is right off the highway … but traffic slows down a LOT at night so that was never an issue for us.
I would recommend this park!
(On other trips we’ve stayed at the Hi Country RV Park which is right at the junction of the Highway and Robert Service Way (road into downtown) which was ok … but their wi-fi leaves a lot to be desired (we found) and they were more expensive than Pioneer. Still … a cute place and not bad!)
