February 9, 2013…Back to some familiar places!
We arrived in Tuscon and since we have spent considerable time visiting this wonderful little city in the past we didn’t plan to stay long. We did want to take a day a visit one of our favourite places here, the Arizona-Sonora desert Museum. If you haven’t been you should definitely go, it is a zoo, botanical garden, art gallery, natural history museum, and aquarium all in one! Leave lots of time as there is lots to see and you definitely want to stay for lunch. Their amazing cafeteria has a huge range of food to choose from…and it’s good!
On the way out to the desert museum we passed the Old Tuscon Studio’s. We have passed this on previous visits to the museum but have always ignored it. This time we decided to check it out and are so glad we did! It is quite the amazing place. As the name implies it is an old studio built in 1939 and many old western movies have been filmed here. Today it is still a studio but is also a theme park and events centre. When we arrived they were hosting a Steam Punk convention…so much fun to see all these folks in their Steam Punk costumes!!
After a great day at the museum and the studio’s it was time to head back to the RV for some well needed rest before departing for our next destination of Las Cruces, NM.
Cheers!
